Although terrestrial dance radio stations are declining drastically worldwide, fans have more options than ever. There are literally thousands of internet stations broadcasting worldwide, satellite radio offers niche stations catering to every genre and sub-genre, and social networking sites are putting fans in control of their own stations.
The internet offers fans limitless options. There are internet stations catering to every sub-genre of dance music from disco and house to trance and freestyle.
Satellite radio is more restricted as it is available only within select markets. In the United States, XM and Sirius are merging to become one station. This "superstation" will continue to offer channels that cater to fans of house, dance hits, trance, and disco.
Social networking sites are also offering interesting alternatives to fans. Some sites allow fans to build entire radio stations around a favorite dance song. Other sites allow fans to program their own station.
