Dance Hits:

Every once in a while a dance song comes along that strikes a chord with the fans, spreads like a virus to become a monster hit, and gets played and played, year after year. "Heart of Glass", "Gloria", "Gonna Make You Sweat", "Ray of Light" and "Sexual (Li Da Di)" are a few such songs.

These songs can define an artists' career and become their biggest hit. "Knock on Wood" was a worldwide smash for Amii Stewart and her only hit in the United States.

Sometimes these tracks are rescued from the discard bin and released seemingly as an afterthought. "Heart of Glass" is a good example.

At other times, the songs get no promotion and become hits quite by accident. This was the story of "I Will Survive".

No one can really define what makes these singles special. It's just that somehow the vocals, lyrics, melody, and production align and become an enduring aural addiction for the masses.

HERE IS OUR GUIDE TO THE BIGGEST AND BEST DANCE TRACKS EVER:

Beautiful Stranger (Madonna)
Holiday (Madonna)
Hung Up (Madonna)
I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
