Hex Hector's big break as a remix artist came in 1996 when Arista Records hired him to remix Toni Braxton's hit "Un-Break My Heart" with Soul Solution (Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake). That remix became one of the biggest dance club hits of the year.
Hex's next big job presented itself in 1997 as Arista was prepping Deborah Cox's sophmore CD titled "One Wish". The biggest hit from Cox's debut CD was the dance remix of "Who Do You Love". Sensing they'd found a niche for Cox, Arista wanted a track that they could promote in the clubs. They got their "wish" when the Hex Hector remix of "Things Just Ain't the Same" went all the way to #1.
After this early success, Hex kept busy for months remixing everyone from Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Tamia, and Lisa Stansfield to Stars on 54 and Gloria Estefan. Then in 1998, he was given the opportunity to mix the new Deborah Cox single "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here". Hector's remix was an enormous hit that was played in the clubs for years afterwards and made him a star.
After "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", Hex Hector was in very hot demand. In late 1998 and into 1999, his remixes included "Don't Let This Moment End" for Gloria Estefan, another #1 for Deborah Cox "It's Over Now", and two tracks for dance legend Donna Summer "I Will Go With You" and "Love On and On".
Hex's next major hit was his remix of Whitney Houston's "Heartbreak Hotel". The track helped Whitney re-establish herself on the charts and led to two more #1 remixes, "I Will Always Love You" and "I Learned from the Best (2000).
Before 1999 was over, Hex would score yet another major dance hit. The Momentus Mix of "Waiting for Tonight" as performed by Jennifer Lopez marked a new career high and made Hex Hector the undisputed king of clubland.
