Although not a disco band, Blondie flirted with dance music on many of their biggest hits. "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", and "Rapture" are among the band's most popular dance tracks.
Ironically, the group did not even want to record "Heart of Glass", considering it something of a novelty. They changed their minds, however, and "Heart of Glass" became their first U.S. hit and won them the Grammy for "Best Disco Recording".
Their next dance hit "Atomic" was the third single issued from the 1979 release "Eat to the Beat". The song was a "tongue in cheek" homage to the death of disco. Although it was a #1 in the U.K., it had much less success Stateside.

The band rebounded in the U.S. in 1980 with "Call Me". "Call Me" was cowritten by Debbie Harry and Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer, Irene Cara) for the film "American Gigolo". It became the group's biggest hit ever, spending six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 100.
The album "Autoamerican" was released shortly thereafter and contained yet another dance hit. "Rapture" went to #1 in the U.S. and #5 in the U.K.
By 1982, Blondie was cooling. Although "War Child" was a minor dance hit, their CD "Island of Lost Souls" had little commercial success. Fans would have to wait another 16 years for the next single.
"Maria" was the first radio track issued from Blondie's 1998 "comeback" CD "No Exit". It became their sixth #1 single in the UK.
The group's most recent full length studio CD "The Curse of ... " was issued in October, 2003. The dance single "Good Boys" was produced by Giorgio Moroder and marked the first time they had worked with him since 1980's "Call Me".
In 2006, the band had a big U.S. dance hit with a mash up of "Rapture" and The Doors' "Riders on the Storm", titled "Rapture Riders". The song went top 10 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club/Play Chart and Top 30 in Australia.
