90s Dance Videos

90s Dance Video:

The 1990s saw the mainstream debut of the "remix" and multiple versions of songs were made available to the music buying public. For the first time, alternate videos were made for club and television promotion using the uptempo dance remix of a song. Sometimes, the only video was the "remixed" version.

The "Waiting for Tonight" video by Jennifer Lopez used the Hex Hector club mix. Thanks to Hex and the clip which featured Lopez as a scantily clad "Millenium Diva", "Waiting for Tonight" became one of the biggest dance video hits of the decade.

Another big Nineties video hit was Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here". Although Cox's career never quite scaled the heights of say, a Whitney Houston, Cox became one of the Nineties' most popular dance divas.

"Unbreak My Heart" was Toni Braxton's first club mix. The Diane Warren penned track was remixed for the clubs by Hex Hector and Soul Solution. "Unbreak My Heart" went on to become the defining hit video of Braxton's career.

Another career defining smash video was Cher's "Believe". "Believe" became the diva's most successful release of her four decade career. The song and hit video fueled the album to multi-platinum sales and drove her concert performances to record-breaking box office.

Another diva whose career benefited from a hit club video was Lara Fabian. Lara's debut English language single was "I Will Love Again". The track was written and produced by many of the same artists behind Cher's "Believe". To promote the song, Columbia commissioned remixes from heavy hitters Thunderpuss, Hex Hector and David Morales and released a remix video.

Thunderpuss also worked on the remix of "Sexual (Li Da Di)" by Amber. "Sexual" was written by Amber with songwriters Rick Nowels (Nelly Furtado, Stevie Nicks) and Billy Steinberg (Celine Dion, Madonna). The video was a monster smash around the world.

Another giant video hit of the Nineties was Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right, But It's OK". Once again Thunderpuss worked their magic and propelled the track all the way to #1. The remix was so successful that some critics credited Thunderpuss with helping to revive Houston's flailing career.
